It is not expected that you attend all of the workouts, and most athletes primarily attend the swims and maybe one or two of the bike and run workouts each week. We are an adult club and recognize that we all lead busy lives. The goal is to attend as many workouts as your other life commitments will allow. We would love to see you out as much as possible!
No. Club members can access to the centre for the swim workouts. If you’d like to access the centre to train outside of club workouts, then yes, you would require a membership.
“You have complete flexibility in your program. You can pause or restart your program at any time. When you pause or cancel, you will not receive any future charges and your program will remain active until it expires on your next payment date. You are welcome to continue training with the club until the program expiry date.” You can also resume your program membership at any time pending space availability.
Not at all.
The majority of KTC athletes learned to swim later in life, and that’s probably why we’re such a welcoming group. We know how intimidating the first day can be, especially when learning a new skill that you think everyone else is a master at. Spoiler alert…we’re all learning, just at different stages.
We’d recommend that you’re able to swim 50 metres of freestyle, but it doesn’t have to be pretty! We’ll take it from there 🙂

The KTC Program follows an annual plan that starts in the fall and peaks for spring and summer racing. We work all summer long to ensure that you are still performing for your late summer/fall races. We then transition into an off-season for a few months before restarting the program all over again. Although the program follows a specific progression, you may still need to make modifications to optimize it for you and your race goals.
There are no sessions. Anyone can join at any time… sooner the better! 🙂
Our club and members are insured through the Provincial Sport Organization of Triathlon BC and everyone must hold membership for coverage purposes.
All swim workouts have an on-deck coach. The bike workouts are coach-led, meaning the coach leads the workout, provides instruction, but also participates. This makes sense when we’re riding outside! The run workouts are also coach-led and often include components to develop balance, stability, mobility, flexibility, strength, and power. Strength training workouts are provided but are self-directed. Workouts are provided to each athlete via the Training Peaks application so that any workout can be conducted on your own.
